The AFM in Zimbabwe National Children’s Ministry Praise Leader, Elder Chiwaridzo, has challenged parents, teachers, guardians and ministry leaders to intentionally nurture the next generation of worshippers, describing the Children’s Praise and Worship Team as a vital investment in the future of the Church.

Elder Chiwaridzo shared the message, titled “The Future of Worship Begins Here,” on the National Children’s Ministry Development WhatsApp Group, where it encouraged leaders across the country to view children’s worship ministry as more than a platform for musical performance.

In the devotional, he emphasised that every rehearsal, prayer, song, lesson and mentorship opportunity plays a significant role in shaping future worshippers, ministers and spiritual leaders.

”We are not merely teaching children songs; we are raising an army of worshippers for the glory of God,” he wrote.

Drawing lessons from 1 Chronicles 25, Elder Chiwaridzo said King David intentionally established and trained singers and musicians for service in the house of the Lord, demonstrating that worship should never be left to chance but must be cultivated through spiritual formation and disciplined preparation.

He noted that children are not simply preparing to become worshippers in the future but are already worshippers whom God is using today.

The devotional urged parents, teachers and guardians to prioritise the spiritual growth of children above public recognition, encouraging them to celebrate Christ-like character more than opportunities to sing on stage or appear in ministry presentations.

Quoting Psalm 8:2 and Matthew 21:16, Elder Chiwaridzo reminded readers that God delights in the sincere praise of children, saying their worship carries spiritual significance and glorifies God.

He further encouraged families to create homes where prayer, Bible reading, discipline, humility and reverence for God’s presence are consistently practised, describing these as essential foundations for genuine worship.

Addressing ministry leaders and trainers, Elder Chiwaridzo cautioned against allowing the Children’s Praise and Worship Team to become performance-centred.

He stressed that rehearsals should first be places of prayer before becoming places of music, adding that while musical excellence is important, spiritual excellence remains indispensable because true worship flows from lives fully surrendered to Christ.

The devotional also drew on the writings of respected Christian leaders, including A. W. Tozer, Martin Luther and John Wesley, highlighting the timeless importance of worship that combines biblical truth, spiritual devotion and musical excellence.

Elder Chiwaridzo concluded by expressing his desire for the AFM in Zimbabwe Children’s Praise and Worship Team to become a modern-day reflection of the ministry established in 1 Chronicles 25, where children are intentionally discipled, firmly grounded in Scripture, equipped with musical skills and wholly devoted to Christ.

He said such intentional investment would ensure that the Church is not only preparing future praise teams but also safeguarding the future of worship for generations to come.
